He hasn't always been the boss, the pageant has been in existence for close to 100 years and what about the other beauty pageants that don't even add the talent and interview part? Are they also controlled by rich conservatives. Conservatives versus liberals, that has nothing to do with this. Have you ever paid any attention to the judges? I am guessing you do not watch the contest, am I right?

I haven't watched a pagent in years but I remember liking them as a kid. I would imagine it's way better than 99% of the reality tv shows on the air so why worry about it?
I totally agree: if it is porn, the beaches, water parks, even public pools should be shut down because of too much porn. We used to watch all the beauty pageants, especially Miss America. But, like you, we haven't for awhile. Probably we have watched it since you have. So do our kids and grandkids. We love to route for our state. I guess that means, we are porn lovers and should be ashamed of ourselves.

Ban internet porn while you are at it. Stop making women objects and let them just be... people.

One of the last Miss America's was 17 years old. Perverts. Bunch of damn perverts. That host is saying he wants to see hot young women in bikinis. I guess that's it. That's why we are here. What our forefathers worked so hard for. Boobs in bathing suits.

Why don't you take a seat over there, America?
And I feel so bad for those lovely young women that are forced into doing this

"Pro women's rights.".....Ummmm....doesn't this mean women have the right to use whatever attributes they have in whatever way they chose , if that's what they want to do?

I could see this argument about Miss USA or another strictly "beauty" contest, but Miss America has always been much more than that. Miss America is a scholarship pageant, there are no modeling contracts, etc as prizes, the prize is a $50,000 scholarship and there is a lot of focus on academic achievement. While most beauty pageant contestants say they want to be models or actresses, Miss America contestants have historically been medical students and other academically achieving young women. It is about being a well-rounded woman, beautiful and talented and intelligent.

Miss America lost a lot of viewers over the years because of this focus. People didn't want to see them play a violin or hear about their platform to help kids learn to read, they ONLY wanted to see swimsuits, etc. There used to be a lot of criticism because many of the contestants weren't up to today's ridiculous standards of "beauty" So they have perverted it somewhat in the past decade in order to try to save it. The WORST was moving it to Vegas, and I couldn't be happier to see it back in AC where it belongs.

I do not see Miss America as like any other pageant, and I do not think it demeans women in any way due to its focus on what's inside as well as outside.

The 17 year-old who won has a goal of law school and eventually becoming a Supreme Court judge, so I personally don't think she is lowering the bar for women at all.

How is this porn? Do you consider going to the beach to be a live action porn show? Because there are lots of women in bikinis there. Should we ban beaches?

Nope, this is what America has become...."I have to complain/****** about something, America" It does not matter, but I'm going to ****** about it, because...well, I really don't know, except I don't like it....therefore everyone else should not like it, and then, when I'm done with that, I'll figure out something else just as useless to ****** about....

Don't worry, this backwards institution has become marginal and is pretty much on the way out. You really have to search for it to even find out when it's happening. Isn't it on the Hockey Channel or something like that this year?
