Supporters of abortion on demand at any time and for any reason pulled out all the stops to oppose the will of Texans by filibustering and then disrupting the vote on a bill that would place common sense restrictions on abortion that most Americans favor.

The Texas Legislature will meet again on July 1st to again take up the measure.

The obstructionist that caused the problems last night don't care about democracy or fairness, they feel that the mob should rule.

Neither do republicans insistent on reintroducing legislation that has already failed twice. Where were the "obstructionists" screaming "shut her up" last night-??? If the majority of the people of Texas wanted this to happen, it would. By the way, do some research. The majority does not. And if you want to talk about democracy or fairness, why don't you refresh yourself on the three points of order against Davis last night that ended her filibuster, even though germanes only counted for TWO of them. Thus, the filibuster was legally allowed to continue despite the new made up rules the Texas senate decided to play by instead.

Show me some research proving that the majority of the people of TX do not support this bill.

The first line of your link says "Texas voters remain split on the permissibility of abortion but favor banning the procedure after 20 weeks of a pregnancy, according to the latest University of Texas/Texas Tribune Poll."

The people of TX support this bill and some loud mouth group of femenazis is going to stop it from passing. If you want to get an abortion past the 20 week mark, go to a state that doesn't give a damn... we do.

If you'd actually listened to Davis speak the entire time, the issue here isn't just about how far along a pregnancy is in terms of abortion. It's about closing 38 centers throughout one of the biggest states in America that many women rely on for things other than abortion services. Not to mention the use of certain pharmaceuticals and much more I won't waste my time trying to explain to your already closed mind. Nice way to create jobs too by the way, closing nearly 40 medical centers throughout the state.

SB-5 passed the House
SB-5 passed the Senate

The bills were slightly different and went to reconciliation, and then back to the House & Senate.

SB-5 passed the House again
SB-5 passed the Senate again ..... BUT, it did not pass in time for the deadline.

Do you not understand what a Filibuster is ..... and why someone would Filibuster?
It's to keep a bill or legislation from passing - when you KNOW it will pass.

I know that Think Progress has a poll from some Connecticut pollster that claims that Texans love Late Term Abortions and Hate the idea of Sanitary clinics with access to Hospitals to save lives of botched Abortions ...... BUT ....... you have to also consider that could be propaganda. The poll that ran in Texas supports SB-5. I think most folks fully understand that ROE v WADE is the law of the land and not likely to change. Many folks object to paying for those Abortion mills and certainly want some regulation so that full term babies are not murdered like they were in Philadelphia.

Texans are not known for Loving late term Abortions, Texans are not much interested in Gosnell style Abortion mills with babies flushed down toilets and dead Mothers. That tends to be a more Preogessive view from Philly and the North East.

As a Republican, I do not feel the Texas Senate Republicans made my party look good last night. It bothered me a great deal to see what they did. I'm in favor of making abortions rarer but I am also a person that believes in fairness and following proper legislative procedures. I do not support Wendy Davis personally but I do not feel as though the Texas Republicans were not correct in their treatment of her last night.
