One would think that after all the bragging about how the Civil Rights Act was the brain child of Republicans that there would be an uproar of indignation from Republicans as a result of the Supreme Court gutting one of the their Party's signature pieces of legislation.

Didn't the court ruling just say that the DOJ needed to use more current data or criteria based on more current data? It didn't look like they gutted it.
1. Could you explain to us why Civil Rights is a Republican/Democrat issue.
2. Do you think that conditions in 2013 are the same as in 1965?
I look at the entire issue as a Huge Win for this country - I remember 1965 and the Civil Rights Era. We needed a mechanism to force people to recognize the Rights of Black Americans, even though it was on very shaky Constitutional grounds. That's was over 40 years ago. Time to move "Forward" and quit using data from 1965 to punish States that have done a tremendous job of cleaning up their act.
This is a Dead Horse with a plethora of both Law and Social progress to make sure of ..... Never Again.

Not me. Then, I'm not a Republican. I also don't think we should have kept the South in reconstruction for another 200 years. After all, why not bring back slavery if no one is watching?
I'm going to withhold judgement until I see the effects of the partial repeal as I agree with the conservative position in theory.
