US President Barack Obama faces wide-ranging protests as he arrives in South Africa.

Mr Obama is travelling to the country on the latest leg of his long-planned Africa tour - his first visit to the continent in four years.

Hundreds of people have gathered in Pretoria to protest against US foreign policy.

Gabriel Gatehouse reports.

It's nice to know that people worldwide have realized, or have already realized, that Obama is just another hawkish US president who deserves no respect for the foreign policy he promotes.

So? I'm Puerto Rican and I never use words like negro or ****** or any other racist words. It's disgusting, and shame on black people who use those words amongst themselves as well

It is indeed quite shameful. It is also a shame that this thread is not even in the first page and it has taken on a polemic, belligerent nature. Although it isn't surprising.

Just heard on the news, it got out of hand and the police fired rubber bullets to disperse the crowd. The BBC cameras were probably not there then.
