Are current politicians fair representatives of either conservatism or liberalism in general? (government, support)

I hold both liberal and conservative beliefs of the way things should be done as far as government goes (and even ultra conservative, according to one poster), but rare is the politician that actually legislates the brands of conservatism or liberalism that I support.
