Vatican ‘rent-boy’ prostitution ring exposed: ‘underage boys’ exploited

The Vatican braces for yet another sex scandal after a prostitution ring consisting of poor, immigrant boys, many underage, operating inside the Holy Roman Church and servicing clergy and high ranking church officials, is exposed.

According to a June 26 story appearing in The Times, a convicted pedophile priest has given Italian investigators concrete information about a prostitution ring operating inside the Holy Roman Church.

Your view of the Catholic Church is no different than those that call the United States evil or the Great Satan.

What I learned in a college course that was essentially an art appreciation course, is that in propaganda you take complex issues and over simplify them, then you magnify your enemies faults or perceived faults, and then you repeat the message over and over and over and over and over and over and over again ad nauseam.

Eventually people in the masses begin believing it and increasingly develop a prejudice against your target.

The issues of the sex scandal in the Catholic Church were and are more complex than what one tends to think.

An American born and raised Catholic priest is a citizen of the United States (a product of U.S. culture as well) and subject to the laws of the United States. So, if he commits a crime in the United States that is for the law enforcement in the United States to work out which includes the U.S. courts and district attorneys. However, as for how his Catholic Church to which he is a member (citizen of you might say) of should handle will be effected by the Church's own internal laws.

Or to better help an American understand this: think of innocent before guilty and Constitutional Law.

One might ask why President Obama does not just dictate everything Democrats want over the whole of the United States immediately, compelled through the force of federal law? Why has Obama not simply declared on national TV one evening that from this day forth homosexual marriage will be legal and respected in every state in the Union?

The answer lies in the complexity of U.S. law.

Along similar lines the Pope is somewhat analogues to the President of the United States and every Archbishop running an archdiocese in every city on earth, is somewhat analogous to the Governors that run each state in the United States. And the system functions and runs in part by law and respect for the laws within each respectively (USA and Catholic Church).

Furthermore, something like the U.S. Catholic Conference of Bishops is the Church body in the U.S. that basically runs the U.S. Catholic Church (not the Pope).

Some modifications have been made to Catholic Church law. For instance, in the U.S. at least, the statutes of limitation have been extended to last longer than what the statute of limitations are in U.S. laws regarding sexual abuse. This means that adults can bring a Church trial against a priest for sexual abuse when the time period has expired in U.S. secular laws. Of course the Church outside Vatican City has no jail cells. Plus, a U.S. citizen enjoys the protection of the U.S. Government and can't just be extradited to a foreign nation on a whim. However, such Church trials might result in other forms of "justice" sought. What those might be I don't know. I'm not a cannon lawyer.

The institutions and practices of canon law paralleled the legal development of much of Europe, and consequently both modern civil law and common law (legal system) bear the influences of canon law. Edson Luiz Sampel, a Brazilian expert in canon law, says that canon law is contained in the genesis of various institutes of civil law, such as the law in continental Europe and Latin American countries. Sampel explains that canon law has significant influence in contemporary society

The Catholic Church has what is claimed to be the oldest continuously functioning internal legal system in Western Europe,[7] much later than Roman law but predating the evolution of modern European civil law traditions.

It is a fully developed legal system, with all the necessary elements: courts, lawyers, judges, a fully articulated legal code[9] principles of legal interpretation, and coercive penalties, though it lacks civilly-binding force in most secular jurisdictions. The academic degrees in canon law are the J.C.B. (Juris Canonici Baccalaureatus, Bachelor of Canon Law, normally taken as a graduate degree), J.C.L. (Juris Canonici Licentiatus, Licentiate of Canon Law) and the J.C.D. (Juris Canonici Doctor, Doctor of Canon Law). Because of its specialized nature, advanced degrees in civil law or theology are normal prerequisites for the study of canon law.

You went through a lot of effort but you still haven't convinced me that a murdered person [murdered people] can feel. Sorry, that's just BS. When someone is murdered, they die. A dead person cannot feel.

Okay, you are quite right. I'll admit that was illogically stated by me.

Let me amend it to say:
Those relatives and loved ones of murdered people (by U.S. persons or persons backed by the U.S. Government) around the world might feel the same way about the United States.

All pedophiles are filthy pervs. Gender orientation is on a different plane than rape. Gender orientation is not the problem in the church. Rape is.

If a culture wants to defend orientation impressions and obscurities to the fullest, then what right does it have to not understand that criminally selfish orientations will not go ahead and do all possible, in this selfish and abusive way to hunt down the younger in an environment of peace and charity ? Also, there is very little to no such aggressions by the priests, against women. So take it from there with what society is, schools, scouts all sensitive to being in full target by the criminally stealthy and fraudulent means, of this particular orientation.
