How you can compare these cases is beyond me. You guys are just grasping at straws now.
And Zimmerman was already armed, and got out of his car to follow an innocent boy. He could have left his "firearm" in his car.

This woman went to get her gun to fire a warning shot so she could get her belongings out of the house after the husband threatened her, yet she was not acting in self-defense? Because she went back to the car?

I thought all you gun-owners were in favor of using your gun to defend yourself? All this stuff about not counting on the police to help you.

This has nothing to do with being black.

It's been pointed out to you 2 or 3 times that a white guy got 20 years for firing a warning shot in a similar situation a couple of years ago.

There is a minimum sentencing law in Florida for using a gun in the commission of a felony. This was a felony. That's all there is to it.

This is not comparable to the Zimmerman case AT ALL because we haven't established that he had any intent to commit any crime. It is not illegal to be armed and keep an eye on someone in your neighborhood. Period. That is all there is to it. Why can't you understand this? I explained it to you a good ten times in the other thread.

No, she was not acting in self defense. That's just... completely insane. How are you even arguing that??? You don't go out to your car, get a gun, and bring it back in to use it, in self defense.

You're not making any sense. You're drawing links that are not based on anything. You have no technical or legal argument. Just some loose connections and a couple of race cards.

For the love of god, please, stop.

Warning shots are not legal.
Shooting a gun, unless at a designated spot or in self defense is not legal.
Had she shot her husband the state would have charged her with murder 1 because intent would be establish.

I guess, in Florida, if you fire a gun, you better kill someone with it so that you don't do time.

You all are unbelievable.

Had she killed him, she would have gotten a hell of a lot more than 20 years. Do you not understand this? Do you know a "minimum sentence" is? Look up "sentence" and then "minimum" in the dictionary.

Man...

I wonder how self defense plays into your little rule. What complete nonsense. Spend 15 minutes researching so you won't look so clueless.

Again, you are misrepresenting the facts in this womans case. What she did is absolutely wrong, her sentencing however we are nearly unanimous in agreement is wayyyy too long but thats the problem with minimum sentencing laws.

It was HIS residence.

When you enter someone elses residence with a gun, it isn't self-defense.
Even if you saw the neighbor kid run out of your house with your xbox and into his house, what do you think happens if you get a gun enter his house and fire a warning shot at him to get it back?

If you have a friend that is a lawyer, explain these scenarios to them and they will set you straight.

You never fire warning shots because you are then responsible for where that bullet goes. It puts others at risk. Drywall inside a home will not stop a bullet.
Killing someone isn't putting them at risk
