I guess this really IS a conservative philosophy.

As a liberal I am thrilled that people will have more options to purchase healthcare once the exchanges open and wouldn't care if the mandates were never enforced.
If the Dems don't like that mandate why did they put it in the bill and why did Obama sign it ?
That employer penalty was supposed to pay for the insurance of the employee that the employer didn't provide.

It was exactly what the Dems wanted..the greedy business people had to pony up and pay "their fair share" either by providing insurance or paying the government to provide insurance.

But now it's all the Repubs fault some how ......

Stupidity knows no bounds. I've heard the same line of logic from my dem (dim?) coworkers/friends.

The Dems do look extremely pathetic trying to blame the GOP for this easily predictable disaster.

The fact that somebody at the very bottom of the totem pole announced this change on his blog provides even more evidence as to why Obama is so indifferent about being President as well as being so aloof, as well as an international laughingstock that no foreign leader takes seriously anymore, starting with Putin.

Why didn't Obama announce this postponement HIMSELF??? He's the President, and it turns out that this might be unconstitutional on top of everything else because he cannot override or change the date of implementation without resubmitting it to Congress.

But then he could care less about the Constitution given the disdain and contempt he continues to show for it.

And now comes the debacle in Egypt, and a pathetically weak response to the carnage in Syria.

Some 'Arab spring' huh Mr. President? Any more foreign policy failures to come on his watch?

Mortal lock.

And you see it throughout this thread.

Congress was just as surprised to hear about this as the public was.
Up until then there were no "problems that Congress needed to work out".
If anything the Dems in Congress started backing away from ownership.

I find it laughable that the Repubs are blamed even when they had nothing to do with this.

GREAT POINT.

Obama is a bystander president.

The Buck does not stop with Obama, there is always a scapegoat...so he has someone else announce it...on some obscure blog and right before a Holiday weekend to minimize it.

Now that is funny. You have a gift, my friend.

The House, in full knowledge that the Senate would not go along, has voted over 30 times to repeal part or all of the Affordable Care Act. How much US taxpayer money was wasted on these totally symbolic "messages to the folks back home", considering that the lowliest Member of Congress gets $174,000 per year?

But President Obama, in delaying one part of the Affordable Care Act in order to simplify reporting procedures that businesses will be using as well as to provide additional time for businesses to prepare to comply with the provisions of the Affordable Care Act, is playing politics?

On the one hand, you have Congress continuing to play their games and waste our money, and on the other hand you have the President delaying part of the Affordable Care Act so that businesses - not the government - will be better prepared to comply with the law .... and the President is playing politics with our health care?? Yikes.

Since employers do not have to report their coverage or lack of then how will the exchanges be able to verify people's applications and whether or not they are due a subsidy ?

That employer reporting info fed into the exchange as verification data and data for qualifying for a subsidy.
I guess we go by people's word ? Just give everyone a subsidy now ?
We'll treat it like we did the Lifeline program before their audit.."Do you qualify ?" and let the people answer with no verification method.

This delay might help the dems in the 2014 elections, but if we're still in a economic slump, they may be in for a rough ride for the next election.

The employer mandate is a "major" part of Obamacare.

That was a cornerstone...employers paying "their fair share". Obama played that up.

Now..no big deal.
