The very meaning of America is that imperfect men must both be restrained from potential misdeeds by government, yet those same imperfect and untrustworthy men also populate the government. The same nature of people who make government a necessity also fills that government and makes it also dangerous and suspect itself.

Not the one I quoted, though.

Those of you who only get your critical analysis from a textbook or tv might not realize this but a majority of Americans are demanding a police state. The fact that they are mostly unaware of this request should be an indication of how efficient our educational and cultural institutions are at getting people to support what they once were wary of.

This has been proven in the last 20 years by the sort of political choices made by Americans and how the quality of debate has eroded to only include the most banal of issues retaining relevancy. American people are so simplistic when it comes to politics... frothy melodramas and childish primary color comparisons are the only thing that keeps it going. Nothing gets done, nothing is meant to get done. American politics is now a brand-name supported soap opera, an entertainment that sells products and services between the interesting bits.

Tantrums are about the only way Americans can respond when it comes to politics. It is called a cultural war but really it is just a war and anyone not fanatically devoted to the corporate-minded special-interests groups will lose.

So we now have a burgeoning corporate democracy that works wholeheartedly on behalf of its small constituency. Levels of investment, money and power afforded rights and privileges commensurate to their place in the profit hierarchy. Everyone else just a revenue generator, enjoying a velvety totalitarianism if improperly associated to a conglomerated logo clan. The finishing touches are being broadcast presently with bigger announcements forthcoming... enjoy the divide & distract show in between the informing commercials!

A police state can only flourish under such a system. (Americans have already consented to it.)

Unfortunately, normal Americans are in the minority while the rest are zombies and robots.

America has always been a police state.

Today's America is still driven by slavery, a different type of slavery which consists of the so-called "American Dream".

This is defined debt slavery, in which the American people go through to achieve their "goal" or satisfaction.

Examples include student loans (which takes years to pay back in full due to the ever increasing interests added), car notes, consumer overspending to "Keep up with the Jones' next door" & house mortgages.

The Democratic Party campaigns on fear and paranoia.

Liberals who vote for those people are perfectly willing to sacrifice essential liberty for temporary security.
