It's not a real threat, it will be struck down, but the fact that the Republicans did it at all makes them disgusting.

Where oh where are all of our libertarian and Constitution waving patriots on this case of government overreach and tyrannical abuse of power?

It's funny that the GOP claims that they want less government interference. But in reality, they want less interference on the issues that impact them. The hypocrisy is out of this world.

Don't agree but calling these faiths mainstream is a joke.

I have to laugh--there's another thread on here about how the current GOP is all about limited government. When that fairytale actually happens, somebody call me quick. Telling a church what type of religious ceremonies they can legally perform is about as big and intrusive as government gets.

These tea party people are starting to scare me, and I'm not easily scared. The good news is that there's nothing like major over-reach to fire up voters and send them packing in the districts that aren't gerrymandered to the point where radical nuts have the best chance of winning.

When you start labeling mainline protestant churches (many who perform gay marriages or do "blessings" for unions) out of the mainstream, then you know you're on the fringe.

That's just absurd.

I tend to agree with you here and I'm against all gay "marriage".
The church would punish the clergy, by finding another church, reducing the churches income and it would close. Free market religion! I like it. No need for more government involvement in our lives, punishing us all for being free people.
