Correct. Which explains why the poorer a country is, the more likely it is to be homophobic and have anti-gay laws on the books.

The wealthier and more educated the country is, the more likely it is to be pro-gay rights and have gay marriage.

there is a link above that proves you wrong. You need to remember that the clergy in the DR no more speaks for its people than the ones in this country do for ours.

also, the DR host one of the largest gay sex orgies in the world every single year, so i was calling that BS as soon as i read the title.
