So is the sentence for manslaughter in Florida mandatory or does it go on a scale and the judge has some leeway in the sentencing phrase? Whatever it it, I don't think the jury members should be buried with knowing that a judge could sentence a person to time wise. It could work against a defendant just as often as it could work for them. That's a decision for a professional. I keep seeing "up to 30 years" but no one is saying the bottom number of that scale.
It's a mimimum of 9. And I believe it's a full 9 with no credit.
