If you could eliminate a tax, which one would it be? (school, education)

Where did I say I "wanted to kick retired renters on the street while [i] protect homeowners"? I don't recall even mentioning renters. You have put words into my mouth.

Exactly, you said you wanted to eliminate property tax for (homeowner) retirees on limited income, but made no mention of renter retirees on limited income, therefore I presume you have no problem with taxing renter retirees on limited income out of their homes, and thus kicking them to the curb..
A renter has every right to not pay and leave. A homeowner cannot do that. you can't have all of the benefits of renting and none of the downsides.
If you don't like renting, stop renting and buy a place.
Would love to buy a place, but class warfare makes home ownership in this country not scalable, and imposes formidable barriers to poor people who would like to buy a place.
A homeowner who claims to not be able to afford to pay property taxes can rent out their house to a renter who will bear the property taxes in the form of rent, while they themselves move to a cheaper place - no need to sell.

Class warfare has nothing to do with any of this. If you really wanted to buy a place, you would work to find a job where you work more than 20 hours per week, instead of claiming life isn't fair when you (as you have told us in other threads) aren't looking for a better paying job (or even a full time one for that matter). Home ownership is scalable if people put in extra effort to improve their circumstances to the point where they can afford to own a home.

I'm one of those actively disengaged from my job, the psychic cost is high.
Inspired by a discussion in the thread about L.A. planning regarding tradeoffs on taxes, and whether high property taxes and low or nonexistent sales taxes and income taxes is better than low property taxes and high income and sales taxes.
If you could eliminate one tax in your state, which would it be?
Income tax is too progressive against single people with no kids. Why should someone who pops out a bunch of kids be entitled to a life of paying zero income tax? Thanks ex-President Bush.
