I recall this case from several years ago in my town. I only remember it because a buddy of mine was working out at a gym right where it happened, and related to me the story of how frantic police were when it happened.

A Bellevue, WA police officer saw a jaywalker w/ a gas can, offered him a ride back to his stalled truck, and ran a check on him. The guy had felony warrants and started a fight.

"I pulled out my firearm, pointed it in his direction, and shot," firing three shots, he said. Nault collapsed against the rock wall.

The jaywalker was shot and killed. No charges were ever filed against the cop--it was ruled a 'good shoot,' as I think it should have been. The general circumstances are remarkably similar to a certain case from 2012, so why is that case all-caps national headline news, while no one besides me ever heard of the shooting of felon Moss by BPD officer Nault?
