I think Z shined his big flashlight in M's eyes, because Z made such a point in his lie to the police that it wasn't working and that he left it in his truck, though it was found at the death scene about 40 feet from where Z said the fight happened.

No, Zimmerman had no right to detain anyone, let alone when they were NOT committing a crime. I'd punch soneone's lights out too if they attempted to detain me and they were a nobody like GZ. Even the cops have no right without cause. My feelings were that Zimmerman confronted GZ and did so in an authoratative and aggressive manner putting TM on the defensive.
