On a rainy night, would you be suspicious of this hoodie wearing black male?

You should be.

He is about to murder both store employees.

Brenna Kathleen Machus Body Found Near Dearborn Family Dollar Murder Site: Police [UPDATE]

This happened a week ago just a few miles from my home.

It was raining when a black male entered a Family Dollar store in West Dearborn with a dark hoodie pulled over his head.

We now know the purpose of wearing the hoodie wasn't to keep the rain off his head but to conceal his identity.

So as Obama lectures white America on their perceptions of black males, the question becomes, for all those who believe racial profiling is wrong, how do we distinguish between innocent black males wearing a hoodie to keep the rain off their heads and those who are a threat?

Would you be suspicious of a white man wearing a hoodie? Like the Unibomber? Racial profiling makes no sense.

So we should judge all people wearing hoodies in the rain by this one example?

DUH

You need to look at the hands to determine whether you need to get the drop on em or not...

^^Agreed! It seems the guy in the picture also has his face covered. Yes, I'd be scared of anyone, male/female, of any race who looked like that. Your point, OP?

If its not cold, then yes, I'm going to at least keep my guard up when I see a young male wearing a hoodie. Black or white.

Profiling is a good defense mechanism.

If he was walking down a street nowhere near me, minding his own business? No. Why would any reasonable person be concerned by that? However, I'd be completely freaked about by anyone, hoodie or not, obviously following me in their car and then getting out to chase me on foot, and with good reason.

I live in an area of Boston where muggings happen at least a couple of times a month. The description of the suspect frequently includes "wearing a hoodie".

I judge all people who wear hoodies...as having terrible fashion sense.

You are right - racial profiling does not make sense.

The point here is the hoodie, not the color of ones skin.

I guess that you missed that pertinent point.

Why are you so focused on skin color?
