WASHINGTON—U.S. authorities say National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden wouldn't face the death penalty—and also promise he wouldn't be tortured—in a new letter hoping to persuade Russia not to grant him asylum or refugee status.
For once, I'm glad Holder is lying. At least this time it will do some good. Execute him upon arrival. Just take him to the inner city and call it a "unfortunate incident" like they always do.....
Snowden expressed fears of death and torture. He was reassured that these things will not happen. What is the big deal about Holder's response? More contrived hypocritical outrage.
Lest we forget, it was the previous administration that condoned torure and why there are factions that still insist that they be tried at the Hague.
Maybe they will just waterboard Snowden if he returns. What right winger can possibly complain about that?
Is he an enemy of the state or a friend to the citizens?
As far as the United States government is concerned, those are one and the same. A person like Snowden that is willing to risk his own personal safety and freedom to tell the truth is the worst type of enemy any authoritarian government can have.
We can all thank President Bush for the new normal where a country like Russia has to ask for guarantees that the US government won't torture a United States citizen to avoid a grant of political asylum. I can remember when it was the US that used to receive those types of assurances from oppressive governments around the globe.

Not buying the hero thnig when Snowden went on a hypocrisy globe trot. Seeking help from the nations that are the epitome of the very thing he holds against the USA. If I had a cause I believed in, I'd march on Washington with supporters behind me. He's a coward and a hypocrite.
Again...Snowden voiced concerns of torture or death and Holder responded. What is strange about that?
Putin in lapping this up and milking it for his own agenda, so who gives a damn what he thinks.
How noble of Snowden to be rubbing elbows with Putin's Russia as they demonize gays and stand by as homophobia fires are being stoked and human rights are being violated. Yeah, great guy that Snowden is...he's a putz!

Like how you deflected this off to the "other party".
