Here in the good ole USA, we live in a society that is still hung up in the fantasy of the rugged individual. It's still a me first society, work the system advantageously, lord your success over everyone less successful, separate yourself from those less fortunate, throw em a few crumbs to keep em from rebelling, but do everything in your power to maintain your economic advantage.

You say this like it's a bad thing. Some of us have it inside us to always strive. And people here think that should be rewarded.

Your philosophy sounds to me like

Have a few people work tirelessly and make sacrifice after sacrifice so that the rest of society can skate by and have everything guaranteed and handed to them.

What's so good about that?

Every family is different. And income is relative to where you live. Some think a family of 4 can live comfortable on $80,000 per year. I will tell you where I live you can NOT. You will be living pay check to check and be in debt fairly easily. People often hear a person's salary and make a determination on whether they are rich. I don't think you can put a number on what is "rich".

Unlike yours in the USA.
We pay 6% provincial tax, and 6% goods and services tax. That makes another 12% tax on everything that we buy.

You can double that for the services tax - and treble that for goods tax : where I am come from.

The dictionary says it's possessing great material wealth, so it's not just cash that's available to spend or what you earn that makes you rich. If I'm unemployed and inherit a mansion, a fleet of sports cars and precious jewels, I'm rich.

I agree...a family of 4 at 80,000 a year is ruffing it in the US probably because that famiy might be looking at paying big fees for health insurance.

I didn't say it was good or bad. I simply wrote what I observe. Label it however you like.

You refer to it as my philosophy but what you wrote is your interpretation of my philosophy. I'm not going to get into my philosophy.

My bad. From reading your post, it sounds like you don't care for what used to pass for old-fashioned american values and prefer the overwhelmingly socialistic attitudes of our european brethren.

Forget health insurance fees. Where I live you are paying $8000 a year in property taxes and over $2000 per year in car insurance not to mention all the other taxes and fees just to work in this state. Health insurance goes on the back burner.
