We aren't talking about the rest of the world though, are we? In the good ole USofA, 300k is rich. It is more than 97% of the entire population makes on a yearly basis. Having more money than 97% of your country = rich

I know man...I've never seen so much poverty pleading in one thread in my life. It's astounding.

People actually believe that you can earn six times what the average American household survives on, and still refer to yourself as middle class.

It's preposterous on its face.

Averages are misleading. Factor in the poor people on no income, SS disability, and the homeless, and that average does not give a clear picture of the income of county residents.

Those people still live there correct? That means ( minus the homeless) they afford it somehow. You will never get a perfect #, so averages and medians are all we got. You also have to factor in the extremely rich right? So it can go either way. Either way, it is a great deal more than the average Loudoun County resident, and more than 6 times the average of the country.

Like the guy earlier who had people making 60k in the same bracket as those making 400k? RIDICULOUS. People who think 300k is not a lot of money have obviously never been on the other side of the tracks.

Assuming your net income after taxes is $180k/yr. This still leads to a monthly income of $15k/month. Even if you buy an incredibly expensive $6k/month apartment/mortgage, this still leaves you with $9k/yrafter taxes, which is still among the top 4-5% of incomes in this country no matter where you live. If you can't live on this amount, then you are truly irredeemable. And no, don't moan about private school costs because those are luxuries out of the reach for the vast majority of Americans.

Generally speaking, these are the same people who bray for more police powers against blacks and Mexicans, more wars and belligerent posturing in the Middle East, say virtually nothing about massive corporate subsidies yet call themselves small government conservatives. So none of the trash that comes out of their mouths should be surprising anymore.

Even in the US, I would not consider that rich. Upper middle class, definitely; rich, not so much.

No problem, we'll change that to upper class, but it's still not rich.
