I don't think you can state the intelligence is going to be the same. In a well tun company it's often the more intelligent employees that rise to the higher ranks as they gain experience.

Do you honestly think that a mid level CPA can perform just as well as the CFO? If so, why would that CPA not call a head hunter to find a CFO gig?
They may or may not be able to do the job, it's lack of experience that is the Achilles heal.

Let's see...

Double the wages, (doubling the prices charged to customers).

Then cut half the staff, (because half the customers left due to the doubled prices).

Then cut the work hours in half, (because of the loss of business).

Then demand another wage doubling.

Yeah, THAT'S the ticket!

The way to get ahead in America.

Minimum wage was never designed to be a living wage.

going to school is not a bad idea.
if you drop out, then minimum wage is for you. if you have no ambition to move ahead in life, minimum wage is for you. what I am saying is that those minimum wage job are for first time jobs. teenagers who have no family. you are with a family of 4 and working mcdonalds, I can assure you made some dumb choices growing. not you gotta pay for those choices.

Let's see. My fiancee worked the floor on production for a while. She made slightly over minimum wage.
Her job was putting part X where it belonged. Take part X out of bin, and put where it belonged, all day. Then after 8 hours she went home. Now she oversees all of the computer systems in a plant. Minimum 8 hours a day just to get the basics done. Then there are all of the unknowns that pop up daily, the requests for changes to the system, the 3am calls because someone messes up the system, or a docking system broke, or a screen is down, or some idiot can't figure out how to reboot their system. She does nearly 70 hours a week, and that is not counting the middle of the night calls to talk someone through a procedure.

Low wage jobs do not have the responsibilities of higher wage jobs.

At one time minimum wage was enough to have a basic existence on. Problem is it never kept up with inflation and COL.

See how that works? The value of your work is what is and you'll never get ahead by simply increasing the pay.
They do not have to pass it on to the consumer. Maybe the executives do not need to have that extra yacht or two week vacation in monaco. Maybe they could do the right thing and pay their employees a better wage.

And it still is today. The problem is that you now have families trying to exist on a min wage job, not a young single person starting out or a retired person looking for some extra pocket money.

They will though. They always have. And customers pay up each and every time.

Minimum wage laws never work. The moment having a worker stops being profitable, any business owner with a half working brain cell will let her/him go. If your minimum wage law goes over that, then you are setting up the table for more unemployment.
