Well, that's a lovely reply Mark S. but this thread is about President's who managed to dodge the draft.
I'm sure if you look over the board you'll find threads that bash President Bush.
George W. Bush did dodge the draft. He qualifies. Rich daddy getting you into the National Guard qualifies as a draft dodge in my book. My dad sure didn't have a rich daddy to keep him out of Vietnam.
Once again, Bill Clinton was not impeached because he commited marital infidelity. He was impeached because he lied under oath to a grand jury. Why is this little (important) piece of information continually ignored?
The grand jury that was questioning him about his infidelity. To-may-to / to-mah-to.
I'm not claiming he didn't deserve it. I'm saying his crime pales in comparison to those of the current administration.

Nope. Draft dodgers are those who are actually drafted and don't show up. That is what happened to Clinton, but not to Bush.
Also, in many instances, those in the National Guard are among the first to serve overseas. Enrolling in the NG is a poor way to avoid serving in a war.

No. Those are POOR draft dodgers. Those with money (like Bush) have more secure options. Like getting daddy to get you into the Guard, then being so drunk most of the time you can't even get that right.

Not in Vietnam. And not if your last name is Bush.

Serving in the National Guard qualifies as a draft-dodger? OH MY! You better alert THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of men and women who have already served their 2nd tour in Iraq. YOU TELL THEM their service wasn't much because they were JUST National Guard......

No. Getting your rich daddy to get you into the Guard so that you don't get drafted qualifies you as a draft dodger.

This isn't 1968. It's an entirely different story today.

Again, serving in the National Guard is not necessarily "draft dodging." A lot of those in the National Guard would be offended by your claim. Would you stop complaining if Bush instead went to a foreign country and joined anti-Vietnam protests like a certain former President did?

Absolutely true.
This just proves that Slick Willy isn't so slick after all. If he was smart, he would have done what Bush & Cheney do when they are called to testify; refuse to be sworn in under oath, and insist the conversation is not recorded, and no record be kept of their answers. Oh, and also make sure you get to testify together, to ensure your stories don't conflict.

They were one of the first to go in Vietnam.
There is evidence Bush did go to his weekend assignments for awhile, then started blowing them off regularly in 1972-1973. Technically not a draft dodger, but let's all be real. He was in no danger of being sent to war and if he had so desired could have gone over there easily enough to serve his country. Rich kids play by different rules, always have and always will.
