Sorry, that isn't the case. And if you read it, it says "ON WELFARE" and it isn't soldiers making up the bulk of welfare reception. That, my friend, was a bridge to nowhere.

There's a conflict of interest when you allow people that are on public assistance to vote. Just as I think lawyers, and judges shouldn't be allowed to run for office and write laws. Anything that sways ones votes to be primarily self-serving should not be allowed to.

You DO realize that's how people usually vote, right? They vote for their best interests. Are you going to allow lobbyists to vote? CEO's? Military? Teachers? Gays? Environmentalists? Who exactly would be left to vote?

Could we then stop businessmen from voting because they might vote for a candidate who'll give them tax breaks for their businesses (at the expense of others)? Can we stop soldiers from voting because they might sway the vote for a bigger military? Can we stop pharmacists from voting because they might vote for a candidate who'll vote against cheaper drugs from Canada?

The answer to those questions is "No!" Just like we can't stop people on welfare from voting.

Lets just throw all the poor people into prison for victimless crimes so we can make money off them. Its their fault minimum wage doesnt even sniff inflation and the corporate masters of the government have decimated the working middle class.

Wait, we already are.

The posts from conservatives in this thread prove that one of their goals is to take away the right to vote from anyone whom they think would vote against them and their agenda. If they had their way only white christian land owning males would be allowed to vote. The right to vote is one of the foundations of this country and is guaranteed by the constitution, the very constitution that they claim to cherish. Seems like they want to cherry pick which parts of the constitution they want the rest of us to live by.

If they had their way? Only white (non-Hispanic) straight Christian males who own property - and even then, they'd probably find a way to restrict anyone in those categories who doesn't fit their "ideal." Maybe they're just realizing this demographic is now a minority, and don't like being on the losing end of things? Pathetic.

Actually poor people are to blame for inflation. The government has to keep printing more and more money to keep up with the ever expanding welfare state. The more they print the more they devalue the dollar which causes inflation.

Oh c'mon... I'm not going to defend my history of being against special interests and lobbyists. For you to make such insinuations shows you have no use for facts.

I believe alot of people, especially rednecks where disenfranchisement has been a part of the voting system for over a century (southeast) see a question like the one posed here as valid, as they know their numbers are her shrinking and are looking for new ways to win elections. Blacks used to have to pass a test to vote, now many Republican states are using the "voter ID law" as a further way to deny some Americans their right as citizens to vote.

Expect more of this in the future.
