I have no problem using the dates of other areas. Just point out which time zone you mean if it isn't the one you usually use.
ok, one more time, all the logs, orders, an other misc. paperwork for that raid is dated aug 6th, 1945. the bomb was dropped on japan on aug 6th, 1945. just because the new york times said ti was dropped 16 hours earlier does mean a damn thing because the times is NOT the keeper of the official records.
Well, that poster did specify Americans living in Australia, ya know?
Ah, I missed that, which also adds to my point. One would celebrate the 4th of July on the 4th, which would be the 3rd in the US, and would probably celebrate it on the 5th too. I use to wish a friend of mine happy birthday twice when she lived in South Korea.

You sure SEEM to have a problem "using the dates of other areas".
The RECOGNIZED date of the bombing is August 6th - end of story.
What YOU think the date should be is of no importance.
Apply the same logic (with regard to time) to the D-Day (Normandy) landings. They took place at 6:30 local time on June 6th, which would be 10:30 Pacific time, on June 5th.
It's customary to refer to times and dates where the event took place.
Yeah, the OP's argument is really really stupid - I mean REALLY REALLY STUPID.
Well lets hope McCain or Graham do not get wind of the OPs thread because it would get them in a rage. They both would probally make Japan celebrate on the 5th and if they don't bomb the hell out of them
Ditto. But when I mention the Bombing, people keep trying to "correct" the date I name, as though that were the most important thing to them.
So I'm trying to clear up that relatively unimportant point, too, to satisfy them.
Was Slim Pickens riding that A-Bomb like he did in Dr.Strangelove?
