I say horse feathers to the non-fighter role as with todays VTOL/STOL fighters ANYTHING with a flat top can be used for fighters.
Weapons load out might be limited somewhat but they can still function admirably as a launch platform.
Strange they squared off the hull below the bow which limits them to one bow anchor. Heavy seas bow on will really give them a jolt. They may want to rethink that one.

They've negated the knife edge effect of cutting through those large rollers by putting a "punt" bow on the thing.
I agree with you, when a roller goes under that; it's got no cutting effect and MUST rise and take a beating while doing so.
Can you imagine trying to maintain speed in good size swells pushing water in front of you with that bow?
