Lol. That was tried. Grace Slick, she wanted to do that. That she is more than half a bubble off of plumb has never been disputed, even by her.

Grace Slick had no intention of naming her daughter "God" it was just a joke, her first intention was to name her daughter "China" in which she did.

These last few months have caused me to question how judges actually get their jobs. Some just dont seem that bright.

Also how did this case even get to a courtroom?

The parents were arguing over whose last name the child would have.

More often then not, state judges are elected. She isnt a federally or state appointed judge.

doesnt mean her ruling wont be, and will be overturned by a higher court

The judge did not force them to change the name because of her religious beliefs, and stated as much in her interview. She stated flat out that she felt the child's name would cause problems for the child growing up. Now I disagree with what the judge ordered and I feel she should have no authority to do it, but to paint her as a Christian zealot trying to stamp out blasphemy is just liberal misrepresentation and deception. But liberals making up motivations for why conservatives do what they do is nothing new.

Reminds me of the firestorm of righteous indignation from the left over Justice Scalia's comments on the voting rights act.

The judge also stated: "The word Messiah is a title, and it's a title that has only been earned by one person, and that one person is Jesus Christ,". I'm not sure how that is not because of her religious beliefs. How can she possibly know that name will cause the child problems later in life. Did she get a crystal ball with that robe?

Default Judge Changes Infant's name From Messiah to Martin

"NEWPORT, Tenn. (AP) -- A judge in Tennessee changed a 7-month-old boy's name to Martin from Messiah, saying the religious name was earned by one person and "that one person is Jesus Christ."

"The judge in eastern Tennessee said the baby was to be named Martin DeShawn McCullough, which includes both parents' last name.

The boy's mother, Jaleesa Martin, of Newport, said she will appeal. She says Messiah is unique and she liked how it sounded alongside the boy's two siblings -- Micah and Mason.

"Everybody believes what they want so I think I should be able to name my child what I want to name him, not someone else," Martin said."

"Messiah was No. 4 among the fastest-rising baby names in 2012, according to the Social Security Administration's annual list of popular baby names."

All I can say is wow...
