However if you are too afraid to offend other people, if might be better to not talk at all. Just talk when you NEED TO, like if you need to find a restroom.

It proves that I don't understand then.

Why would money be important as a talking topic in meeting someone?

Aren't people interesting other than that and is it before all?

If the men are good friends, they will. Certainly in France and Italy they would. It kinda means that they consider you a good friend....

I don't think anyone has ever asked me what my salary was either in the US or in Europe. It's pretty crass in most countries.

What a strange question. Of course! Why not? Russians kiss three times.
It doesn't matter if they're men or women.

Men don't kiss when they don't know each other, just as women don't!

But I've seen men greatly embrace and kiss after not seeing each other for a long time, what's the problem?

I have seen that in Portugal as well, but it is not as frequent as among women or between men and women.

I think it's an American thing. God forbid they could be mistaken for gay.

How could no one tell me about the Double-Cheek Kiss? Growing up in Western Canada where people are very cautious about respecting personal space, I simply wasn't prepared for all the kissing. I swear, the signs greeting people as they enter Quebec should read: "Bienvenue à Quebec - get ready for kisses!"

Cute article.

I think it's an Anglo thing. My gf is a Brit and never greets her friends with kisses.
