#1 - it gives him the ability to get as far away from the taxpayers, government officials, and press as possible.
#2 - it gives him the ability to avoid being in a public place, since he is on his own private land, and can invite only those he wishes to invite.
#3 - the larger the land, the more he can do on it (bike rides, jogging, clearing brush, chopping wood, ride horses, etc)
Why do you think people go to dude ranches for vacation?
All that is great but you've still failed to prove in any way that when Bush was in Crawford he was "on vacation" doing all that great stuff you're dreaming up.

Ok so you've proven without a doubt that the time Bush spent at the Ranch in Crawford wasn't all vacation time, thanks.
Now show me where the activities they listed took place at a time when he should have been working on business.
What was he doing during his August 2001 5 week vacation in Crawford, when he should have been conducting meetings about the threat from Al Qaeda?
Apparently chopping wood.
Bush obviously had more important matters to attend to than meeting on Al Qaeda while he was on vacation in Crawford, in August 2001:
Clarke then asked on several occasions for early principals meetings on these issues, and was frustrated that no early meeting was scheduled. No principals committee meetings on Al-Qaida were held until September 4, 2001.[16]
The head of the CIA (George Tenet) was seriously worried all summer 2001 that we were about to be attacked.
And Bush's chief terrorist expert (Richard Clarke) was pressing him to hold meetings on the threat of Al Qaeda.
So what does Bush do?
He goes to Crawford ... and doesn't conduct a meeting until he returns!

In hindsight, we're probably fortunate that he was chopping wood. Even if that dunce knew exactly when and where the attacks would happen, he would have figured out a way to make them worse.
At 1,583 acres, it is 10 times the size of Disneyland."
I guess it depends on your point of view...
My uncle had 3,000 acres in Central Montana, and it was barely big enough to provide a living for his family.
I "vacationed" there many times for hunting.
So, sorry, but yes, at less than 1600 acres, it really IS a comparatively tiny "ranch".
For purposes of comparison:
1 section of land=640 acres
1 acre=43,560 sq. ft.
or
4840 sq. yds.
A football field is about 1.32 acres, less if you consider ONLY the actual playing surface, which is a little less than 1 acre.(google it)
I think it is funny how this conversation shifted from days on vacation to amount of money spent.
What's funny about it? The Obama's have floated on a magic carpet their entire lives, and never worked an honest day. Every day Barak is in office is playtime. He never gets off the damn stage.
