Nope, it wasn't John McCain, it was the idea that Sarah freaking Palin would have been one heartbeat away from being President.

It's also not really a false dilemma, because the chances of Palin becoming "President by default" were higher than Biden (even if you subscribe to the idea that he's dumb, which he is not).... Obama is/was a young man with chances of keeling over a fraction of that of McCain at the time.
