Default Duckbilled platypus

Here's something weird. I'm an non-believer but I love Christmas time. I love the pomp and circumstance of the holiday. Love the decorations, love the tree, Love ex hanging gifts, Love the good general feeling that Christmas brings.

Well I guess there are stranger things in that go on in this world.
Duckbilled platypus anyone?

I don't mind hearing Happy Holidays, but nowadays I do because if I say Merry Christmas at my work, I could get in trouble. I'm sure people file lawsuits over it. You can't display Christmas ornamentation without getting sued either.

jak, has this ever happened, or do you simply have fear that it might? The "I could get in trouble" could be questioned with has anyone you worked with ever had that happen? I doubt there are lawsuits over being wished "Merry Christmas", I'm sure you could google and find out. Who has ever been sued for displaying christmas ornaments? The manger scene is not appropriate on taxpayer land; but I've never heard of anyone being sued for a private display of holiday ornaments. If your business has a personal issue with it, that's not public law.

Default Merry Christmas Ho Ho Ho

It's not just about TALKING HEADS in the media or business it goes a little deeper than that.............................................. ....

The first thing to go were the Christmas trees.

Then it was decided that any song or carol mentioning the word "Christmas" needed to be avoided in concerts and school programs. And now even the colors of plates and napkins are under review during the month of December in the public schools of Plano, Texas.

The Plano Independent School District in December 2004 instructed parents that they could only supply white plates and white napkins for the "Winter Break Party". Red and green were to be avoided at all costs. Their anti-Christmas directives included a ban on the words "Merry Christmas" on greetings being sent from students to armed forces who were overseas during the holiday season. While they were at it the district banned distribution of candy canes pens and prohibited parents from exchanging "religious oriented items" with each other on school property. For good measure, they threw in a new rule prohibiting criticism of school administrators or board members on campus. (How convenient, eh?)

This sad, media-documented tale is just one of hundreds coming out about public schools in 2004.

Perhaps what well-meaning school boards and administrators should do is return to the classroom for a crash-course on the constitutional freedoms and established precedent of law. Here are some facts for parents, students and school administrations to consider:

How would you feel if those napkins said Happy Kwanza on them?

Think about it...the world isn't all about christans and what they find comfortable.

I celebrate Christmas, I LOVE Christmas and the holiday season, I was raised Catholic....I also possess critical thinking skills and respect other's belief systems; which is something that many Christians have a hard time doing for some reason.

Maybe I'm missing something...
I agree, but some people would rather play victim.

I don't know why people believe everything that flops out of Bill O'Reilly's mouth.

Well, first thing to do is learn how to spell "Kwanzaa".

Now, if people would like to start the legislative process of making Kwanzaa a national holiday like Christmas is, then I have NO problem with napkins saying Happy Kwanzaa. Let the Kwanzaa cupcakes be made and the celebrations begin!

Not everyone celebrates Christmas and it is quite biased toward non-Chrisitans, so it really shouldn't be a national holiday...maybe they should call it like National Winter Day Off or something, but no one is telling Christians that they can't have their holiday or say merry christmas...its absurd to think otherwise.
Must be more than just the idiot heads from Fox that keep bringing it up, I don't have cable and I hear it every year it seems...Must be those left wing pimps.....
