There has been a lot of controversy at CD about the use of drugs. I came across this list of drug war victims and thought you might like to read it.

I came from a time were the police was the beat cop who carried a night stick and a small .38. He had the respect of everyone and did his job without killing one person. Today we have the police who look more like nazi storm troopers wearing face masks, armed with automatic weapons, and attack in droves. I have no respect for these modern day so-called police.

Imagine yourself, a law abiding citizen who works for a living, pays taxes and is raising good children. Due to the crime in your area you buy a gun for protection. Working on a tip, or perhaps the wrong address, a SWAT team busts down your door without warning scaring the hell out of you as you watch TV. Not knowing it is the police you grab your gun to protect your family and a dozen trigger happy police open fire killing you, your wife and wounding your children. Wrong house, oops, we're sorry. It won't happen again because your are now dead. At the end of the day the cop that killed you will go home to his wife and children and brag how he controlled crime.

The most appalling aspect of these busts are that they are for traffic violation or minor drug violations usually marijuana.

Is this a War On Drugs or a War on Citizens?

I can't sit here and berate police tactics of mass confusion and disruption to make arrest. The scenic description of a home raid you are talking about is normal and should be used by police when in situations where they may encounter a gun.

Whats needed is prosecution of police when they are wrong.

The drug war hurts the country economically, hurts families in multiple ways, and is waste of money. Going back to a time when a flatfoot walked up and down the street isn't likely to change the drug war. We need legalization

absolutely right. because of the power they wield, we need to hold our law enforcement officers and agencies to a higher standard, and when they fail to meet that higher standard, punish them accordingly. cop who commit crimes need to be run through the court system for those crimes. this we are setting you down for six months without pay is rubbish.
