I think that no way Russia or Syria would have thought of doing this without the stick facing them.perhaps id we had acted before this o the other gassing the last might have been prevent;we will never know.Sssad just shows what he really is like in denying chemical weapons that he now agrees to giveup.it just goes to show there are still Hitler type around the world.
The Obama bashers are the ones who believe that what Kerry said about putting Syria's chemical weapons under international control was really an "off hand" remark. Putin and Assad came up with a good plan of their own, lets put Syria's chemical weapons under international control.
Perhaps that's the way it went down. Would it have gone this way, had not Obama made it clear he was ready to take action? The whole deal seems a tad contrived.
Remember all the tough talk from Putin and the others. They were going to continue to arm Syria. The region would erupt. Anything was possible in retaliation. They thought Obama would flinch. When he did not, and got even more determined refusing to say whether he would act alone - leaking that the mission had expanded, they had to back down.
It's kind of sad, isn't it? It took the US pointing missiles at this a**hole before he realized that gassing people is a bad thing. And now what will happen? He gets to remain in power. For now, at least.
Why shouldn't he remain in power? He is the leader of a sovereign nation and is no threat to you. Why do you keep provoking this war, instead of seeking peace? Why?
Putin (background – ass-kicking KGB operative) sees a way to take advantage of this situation to both embarrass and establish a stronger dominance over Obama (background – pot-smoking community organizer). Putin heard John Kerry make a bit of a mistake at a presser. Kerry is asked what Assad can do to avoid an attack. The Poodle suggests that Assad could turn over his chemical weapons. The White House immediately refutes the idea, and Kerry’s handlers start trying to walk the comment back. But Putin was listening … and he makes his move.
Putin, loyal to his primary goal here is to keep his pal Assad in power, immediately seizes on Kerry’s idea and makes it a firm proposal. Just that quickly Putin takes control.

An agreement will be reached between the ass-kicker, the community organizer and the gasser for Syria to turn over “all” of its chemical weapons. Of course “all” of the weapons will not be turned over. There will be inspections, but Putin will work with Assad to make sure the inspections are not too thorough. In the end Assad will keep a good portion of those chemical weapons, and Putin will supply him with even more arms.
I am happy about it too. The comments here show people didn't give a rats ass about how it was going to end, they were only interested in making lame partisan comments.

Russia is unlikely to respond but should we decide on what Russia might do.I mean Russia has been feeding arms to Syria and I doubt after Afganistan its wanting to enter the active a war or in a position to even do so. We can never base our response to such violations of Genova convention violation on how others either do something or they shrink from doing something.

They're mad because it looks like we may not attack, which they could have gotten mad over. In other words, they're mad that there's no reason to be mad.
Ah, once again the right shows its problems with reading comprehension. The story says Assad did not order it. It does not say the rebels did. Sheesh!
I got it the first time. The rebel terrorists said that the Saudi's provided these c weapons, but not the instructions on how to use them. They messed up and gassed fellow rebels along with Assad's soldiers.
