He was born in the US and is a US citizen.

I hope his last meal is a big, fat pork chop.

All jokes aside, though, I am really disappointed in this sentence. I was seriously hoping he would get life in prison without parole and just rot away in a little cell somewhere, out of the public eye. Instead, he gets to be a martyr - and we get to pay for it. Damn.

Bring back the Pershing Doctrine: Hasan found guilty on all counts

Let's see how many of his soul brothers want to do what he did, after that.

If it saves just one life.....

It won't happen on Obama's watch, it takes years for death sentences to be executed. There are currently 5 on military death row - one of whom has been there for 25 years.

He is an American citizen.

Respect for ourselves demands that we follow through with the process the law has laid out.

In this case, because he received the death penalty, there will be a mandatory appeal filed. Even though Hassan doesn't want an appeal, the death penalty mandates a review of the case. It will likely be a number of years before the order for execution appears on the President's desk, and in this case, since there is no doubt whatsoever that Hassan planned and did commit this horrible crime, the order will likely be signed.

Very disappointing - we basically gave him his wish and agreed to pay for it. He thinks he's going to be a martyr and I am sure that plenty of his supporters will see him that way. Too bad our tax dollars are going to pay for this boost in his popularity. Wonder if we'll pay for his final Jihad video? It wouldn't surprise me at this point.

At least I'm fairly certain that we won't be paying room and board for the 72 virgins he expects to be waiting on him as the wheels of justice slowly turn!

The military hasn't executed anyone since 1961.

I do think it's unfortunate that we gave him exactly what he wanted.

Well, just so you know, the last execution by the US military was in 1961.

There are five inmates on death row at Fort Leavenworth (the military's prison for death row inmates).

Some interesting info about Fort Leavenworth - while it's no Arizona style prison and no Angola, it's no picnic either:
