MEXICO CITY – General Motors today announced it will invest $691 million for its manufacturing operations in Silao, San Luis Potosi and Toluca to build higher performing, more fuel-efficient powertrains. Mexico President Enrique Peña Nieto and other senior government officials were on hand to mark the importance of the investment to the country, GM and its customers.

"GM is about to reach 78 years in Mexico and we celebrate it with this new investment, which means more employment and development opportunities for the regions of Silao, San Luis Potosi and Toluca; and more advanced technology that will benefit our customers," said Ernesto M. Hernandez, president and managing director of General Motors de Mexico.

"The quality of our employees’ work continues transcending borders, allowing us to continue attracting investment to maintain a strong production of vehicles, engines and transmissions of outstanding quality for our customers around the world."
Isn't this a Ford thread?

You're not even reading the posts.

For the reasons cited above which you are ignoring. Conveniently.

It's interesting the way cons squirm, wiggle and twist when they realize they've been caught making anti-American posts.

Poor quality! Unions suck! Immigrants will take your jobs! Keystone! We're getting a full tour of con deflections, all on one thread.

It was until certain folks foolishly started saying Republicans oppose job creation.

That's just a dumb thing to bring into this topic. I don't believe either party is "against" job creation so why bring it up?

And republicans oppose it here, because there is NO pipe currently running through the Ogalalla aquifer, and for good reason. It's not an underground lake--the water is in the sand, and the sand comes within inches of the surface, in the sand, in the Sand Hills. They can't contain a leak there if one happens.

As for the rest--you need to do a little reading before you go on ignorant rants.

Again--manufacturing jobs are GOOD, yet people here are whining, b*tching and moaning about cars being built again in Detroit. A few temp jobs in trade off for something that could destroy a state's primary industry is BAD.

The ORIGINAL POST was a negative about Ford. No one else took it there. He did.

But nice try.

You don't see me saying there's anything bad about the Ford Focus plant news!

I am only pointing out how dumb it is to say the GOP opposes jobs!

My other statement here is that if you blame management for the decline of the auto industry in the USA, it's only fair that you recognize that management should get credit for it's revitalization enough that this plant is now hiring (although this isn't Detroit).

Neither party is anti-jobs....get over the partisanship and be fair!

I've always wondered about the conservative's stance on car purchasing. On one hand, 'buying American' fits right in to the flag waving, chest thumping nationalism the Right is so fond of. On the other hand buying from the Big 3 means supporting the unions which they hate so much.

There is ample evidence that the Republicans are against job creation. We complain about subsidizing offshoring yet the Republicans opposed tax credits for companies that bring jobs back, oppose ending credits for companies that ship jobs to China, oppose lowering the corporate tax credit, oppose federal money given to states' so teachers and firefighters can be hired/keep their job.

Obama could propose outlawing abortion and ending welfare and the Republicans would oppose it.

Aside from classifying pizza as a vegetable, I'm not really sure what Republicans want or support.

I know..but again. The thread was about FORD and the jobs their bringing to Michigan that will add 1400 jobs. Where did GM and the Bailout fit in? Oh yeah 1400 will be added to the tax rolls.

So you're saying that Democrats buy nothing but union built American cars and aren't patriotic because they're not into nationalism?
