John Kerry Wasn’t Always So Harsh to Syrian President Assad | TheBlaze.com

Headlines across the globe heralded U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry’s scathing indictment of Syria that it was “undeniable” that President Bashar Assad’s regime used chemical weapons last week and that the “moral obscenity” should “shock the conscience of the world.”

No you have that wrong. Bill Clinton was the last president to lead his party. Since Clinton our presidents have been figure heads for their party. Nothing more than talking heads.

OOPS!!!!

Since Kerry "thought so highly of Assad" why couldn't he have had discussions with Assad and try to mediate the situation in Syria, even before he became Secretary of State. If McCain can go to Syria and Egypt in an effort to mediate, why couldn't Kerry go to Syria in an effort to mediate???

So now a US Senator having lunch or dinner with a foreign head of state, four years before that head of state creates an international incident, is proof that he "thinks highly of him?" Seriously? I have lunch and dinner with LOTS of people for professional reasons, and it has absolutely nothing to do with whether I like them or not.

Do you refer to LOTS of people you dine with for professional reasons as "my dear friend"? That is how Kerry described his relationship with Assad.

Kerry started his meetings with Assad in 2009 right up to 2011 just before the protests started. Kerry thought things were going just dandy. The US relaxed sanctions against Syria. Every time Kerry returned from a visit with Assad, Kerry would make it a point how Syria basically held the key/solution to regional peace, including Israel. Kerry would praise how well his meetings were going, that progress was being made and Assad basically sharing the administration's vision. If Syria could be the stabilizer and bring peace in the region, then it can also be the country that could destabilize the region.

Seems Kerry's "dear friend" was jerking him around.

The US WAS the world power. Today the US is competing with Russia and China. The scale has tipped. Russia and China are getting the "goods" that the US is seeking in foreign countries and that's because Russia and China does not care how governments run their countries, they are there for business, not to change the country. The days of the US placing "conditions" on countries are behind it.

How many Chinese and Russians died in Iraq during the Iraq war? None, because they weren't part of the coalition. After thousands of military personal dying and being wounded from different countries, China and Russia ended up being the winners and are the countries that Iraq contracted with. Whatever the US is getting, if anything, out of Iraq are the crumbs. Now Iraq is asking the US to return because it is in a high state of disarray, which has a lot to do with the rebels crossing over into Iraq from Syria.

Iraqi authorities have voiced interest in promoting trade and economic links with Russia. Regular high-level contacts may help Russian companies strengthen their positions in Iraq.

In Afghanistan the US wants to build a "new silk road". China is already doing that.

While the US talks about saving Afghanistan with a “New Silk Road,” China is actually doing it – Quartz

All the US is left with is the number of dead and wounded and a big bill paying for wars that proved unsuccessful for the US, but successful for the enemies of the countries who wanted to take the power and rule. We have destroyed countries and destroying our self in the process. As long as we continue on this path, China and Russia will be welcomed in these countries while the US gets locked out.
