A few months ago at a Dredging company in Baltimore, the speech was that middle class jobs will be returning to the U.S.

Is this true? In what sectors of the economy?

Since a service economy of retail and food service is unsustainable, what are the current plans by the administration.

Are they aware of what middle America is looking like these days?. Opinions welcome.

So far he wanted to end tax credits for companies that ship jobs overseas, provide credits for companies that bring jobs back, reduce the mfg tax rate to 25%, and lower the top corporate tax rate to 28%.

None of these measures passed Congress though, so I don't know why he is still talking when he knows that anything he proposes isn't going to pass.

As long as the propaganda extolling the virtues of selfishness and avarice afflict almost half the nation, and as long as the GOP is intent on obstructing anything that even smell like it will help the middle class or the poor, as lycos679 alluded to, I think the best we can hope for is keeping a bulwark against the Republicans' intent on doubling economic inequality in our nation for a second time in as many generations. And that's pretty much what the President is doing: The best that can be hoped for given the opposition's intent on destruction.

You must not have read the message you replied to. What I did is hold the GOP accountable for their insistence on making things worse for those less fortunate. I can respect your need to deny this, because you want to believe that what you've been supporting is something good instead of the reality, that it is something terribly bad.

Excellent post! That the Republican Party has declared war on the middle class cannot be denied.

If those calling working taxpaying Americans 'selfish' would get a job, they wouldn't be begging for others to support them.

Good to know.

Senator Sanders is discussing the dire economic facts today on Thom Hartman show.

Haven't you learned yet.

Obama has a number of topics that make the rounds to keep the emotions running.

Hispanics....keep the flame going on immigration
Blacks..keep the flame going on racial oppression
Whites..keep the flame going on middle class jobs
General public...keep the flame going on various oppressors (Repubs, Christians, Whites, Corporates) and how you are their victims.

It's a never ending cycle. Promise them the world and then blame some other group as obstructionist to your vision.

Obama's ramblings amount to nothing more than factless (not to mention "mindless") propoganda.
