I kinda cringed when I saw that.
Aren't those desks like hundreds of years old and they get to pick which past President's desk to use ?

I see that type of furniture like museum furniture.

The desk in question was a gift from the British queen in the 1880s and was carved from the timbers of the British ship HMS Resolute which was abandoned in ice and later recovered by Americans. The Queen gave the desk as a "thank you" for recovering the British ship and returning it to the Brits.
