The cost is higher because the hospitals charge higher rates to paying individuals because they have to provide free health care for the illegals who keep coming here.. otherwise the hospitals would go bankrupt.. Paying twice as much covers an illegal aliens care for their free operations , free care across the board. There are many who get free health care because they cannot be turned away .

If her husband is working this means he is paying a cent into medicaid.

I find the most simple minded posters are convinced of their brilliance. I think if we did have IQ tests to qualify for ALL government benefits not just the ones for poor people.

Your fantasies not withstanding. As you admitted you and your wife are not footing the full cost of the birth of your child. No one does. This means that other people are footing the bill.
I really don't see a difference because there is not a difference only in your mind about who you think is deserving to have other people foot the bill.
In your mind, you are deserving of having others foot the bill, but other people whom you hate aren't. That is your personal issue, but it doesn't change the basic reality that no one foots the bill for the birth of their child, and that means that other people are footing that bill.
So the gov't insurance pool is the equivalent of my private insurance pool? Hmm...wonder why I and my employer have to pay heavily into both, while a good chunk only pay into one and another good chunk don't pay into either.

Actually Tara is very right but it is not so explicit as he/she describes. Medicare/Medicaid reimburse hospitals around 80% of costs. Hospitals turn around and contract with private insurers to be reimbursed around 120-130% of the costs.
To be fair illegals aren't the only ones using Medicare or Medicaid but when they have babies any hospital will make sure they end up covered by Medicaid since they are most likely not insured and have no means to pay.
