You can be legally blind (Vision of 20/100 or restricted field of view, or lack of depth percetption ) for purposes of qualifying for SSDI and still have enough vision to recognize people at 20 ft distance and thus safely use a fire arm.
Then they can see well enough to use a firearm at close range. It is those that can see nothing that should not attempt to use them. I doubt you will any argument there, except of-course for those that believe blind people should have the right to use firearms because public safety does not override the 2nd A, which is wrong.

Not many in the progun community feel that public safety trumps the 2nd Ammendment . So this is why they oppose background checks, manditory psychological exams or even baring people with felonies especially those where firearms were a factor as a determinant in lawful gun ownerhip. A maority of states virtually all red refuse to exchange mental records, criminal records or any other information with peer organizations in other states which would facilitate crime solving and bolster public safety. .

Don't sell the blind short, many can navigate streets in Manhattan, Downtown DC or any other complex environment. The blind often learn how to judge where someone is by using another sense like hearing. This is how they face anyone they want to talk to or to judge traffic by the sound. Some use dogs but many don't.
I dunno, but I think this may be taking "the right to bear arms shall not be infringed" to a wee bit of an extreme: Iowa grants gun permits to the blind
We'll try an experiment here and we'll put you in the room with the blind guy. The rules are you have to take one step and he gets to shoot.
Being blind sure would make living in Iowa a lot less depressing.
