Someone needs to work on their reading comprehension.

If anything, viewing these organizations as being stupid or ignorant hurts us; we should be taking these groups and their members more seriously, and treat them as the serious threat that they present.

1 thing that would mess with Islamists is being sprayed with bacon fat since many of those people think pigs are dirty. Word is they think they'll never go to heaven if that happens so most Islamists will back down because their "hell" scares them IMHO.

This is why N/A should lock down the airports and butt out of things for a time of restoration. With communication there is no need except for vacations. Get more busy working on the secret weapon and rebuild a self sustaining continent.

And our latest threat of a "statement" to Syria added more fuel to the fire.
You continue with your nonsense. Al Qaeda is promising strikes on the US since the 90s. Unless you belong to the nuts who believe the CIA is behind 9/11, you know they planed strikes BEFORE we invaded Afghanistan and Iraq! It has nothing to do with Syria. If anything, they are happy to see Assad gone. They do not respond to US attacks and even if we did nothing, they would still do their best to hit us hard. If Al Qaeda acted only in response to US actions they wouldn't be there in first place. Why not listen to what their spokesmen say? Just pay attention instead of forcing your logic upon them.
And the fact that there were no recent attacks on US is because they couldn't, (following CIA, FBI and other security forces efforts).

And our intervention has caused a lot more of them to side with the terrorists against the US.
If you don't think they are more powerful today then you are not reading enough analysis.

One small bunch of them got lucky and managed to pull off a mission while the huge monolithic security apparatus in the country was asleep at the switch.

I'll reiterate, They are dangerous but lucky for all of us they are incompetent. If they were as competent as say, the Yugoslavian resistance was against the Nazis in WW2 there would be something big blowing up every single day. I can think of innumerable acts of terror they could do if they were a credible threat. I won't mention anything in that vein because most likely the mentally challenged criminal terrorists have not even though of them. They are a paper tiger and the reaction in the USA towards them is an over reaction in the extreme. It is in reality a very real victory for the skum suckers that they have so terribly impacted the country.

We got the airports, train station, bus station and highways all covered now.
But there's still a big "Welcome" sign at the southern border.

Someone who Russia warned us a terrorist looking to kill innocent people? Meh, no threat there. Because he voted for Obama. The only people Obama sees as threats are those that don't worship him. He's not worried about the people in Syria. 99,000 have died outside of the chemical attacks. This is about ego after he pronounced his red line.

And now Syria is hiding their weapons while promising to turn them over. Obama is a fool.

Analysts are wrong most of the times, including at the time of George W. Bush. Obama also bases his policy towards Syria on analysts and expert advisers. I suggest you listen carefully to Ayman al-Zawahiri and his affiliated activists. They are honest and open on what they plan for US (with or without drone strikes). It always seems you (and other well meaning folks) want to force your logic on them, on Assad and on Iran.
Is it possible new members joined Al-Qaeda recently? Yes, it is. I don't need analysts to figure that out. However, if Al Qaeda scores new points against us, more volunteers will join their ranks anyway. Take it from a non "analyst".
