The Criminal Enforcement arm of the EPA was created in 1982 under President Reagan. They enforce the law just like any other branch of the government, and the agents are much more likely to have drawn their gun in the face of a crocodile than a human.
NOAA has guns for the same reason the Coast Guard does: It's possible that they might be first on the scene in the case of conflict. They're also in charge of prosecuting illegal fishing in some areas.
I mean, I suppose we can all be scared and paranoid that some government officials have guns. But they've had guns for a long time now, so I guess its a little confusing to me why this is a relevant or interesting topic right now?
Department of Education has SWAT teams and APC`s, this is going to far, this is a waste of money, money we must pay this is used to restrict our liberty..
Do you have any backup info on the Dept of Ed Swat teams and APC's??

I don't know, but on the news a few months ago I recall hearing talk of a 'planned emergency in this coming october. If i recall it was Obama's idea.
