The situation is totally different IF it turns out that there are 3 gunmen.

They have given a description of the other two men they are looking for and the weapons they carry. It will probably be a while before we know anything for sure ..... and we may never know based on past experience.

Quote:
D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier said one shooter was confirmed killed at the scene of the Navy Yard rampage and authorities are looking for two other men who may also have been involved in the attack.
The two at large suspects were dressed in military garb but are not believed to be U.S. service personnel, Lanier said.

One was a young white man in a khaki like uniform and the other was a black man in his 50s with a long rifle in an olive colored garb, she said.

I've now heard two reports (unconfirmed by the Government, but from those inside the building) that the shooter in building 197 shot his way into the building (presumably because he knew he couldn't clear the building security at the building entrance) ..... totally different to clear security at the gate and then again at the building entrance.

The media right now is on a mad scramble to find any scrap of news. Anything reported now may be wrong and would just add to the confusion on the ground.

I have friends in there too.
I remember a time when being accurate was important to the media. Now it's just who can pump out any info as quickly as possible. Pray for the dead an injured, another sad day in America.

They would rather be wrong than last.

Gunman opens fire at Navy Yard in Washington, killing at least 4

By Jim Miklaszewski, Pete Williams, Richard Esposito and Erin McClam, NBC News

A man brandishing an assault rifle, shotgun and handgun opened fire Monday inside a building at the Washington Navy Yard — killing at least four people and wounding at least seven more, including two police officers, authorities said.

SWAT officers swarmed the building, the headquarters of the Naval Sea Systems Command, and a shooter there was killed, sources told NBC News. More than two hours after the first gunfire, there were reports that tactical teams were entering a second building at the Navy Yard.

The Washington police chief said there could be as many as two other shooters at large. She said officers were on the lookout for two men, one white and one black, both in military-style uniforms.

It does. In his first public remarks, Obama has already called it a "yet another mass shooting", instantly labeling it in the public mind.

Not only that some of them are actually fighting among themselves on Twitter.

There currently is only evidence of 1 shooter. shooting multiple(a mass of) people.

If the news actually have it right, and if there actually are 3 shooters, I'd agree. I wonder how much ALLAH AKBARing there was going on at this one?

Alarmists will use any crisis to further their agenda. What amazes me is that even after 911 security on bases is so much lighter than when I served in the 80's and early 90's.

I find it hard to believe that multiple gunmen could penetrate the Washington Navy Yard. One person who formerly was employed on base sure, but not 3+ terrorists.
