I don't see anything wrong with inheriting the wealth and I see it as just about the same as the so-called "self made" (I doubt anyone is). Morally that is.
The mentally challenged (i.e. retarded) are very, very, very unlikely to become wealthy selling their labor or creating some business where they purchase the labor of others.
I was reading about some guy the other day that opened a business, expanded it, it went bust, he filed bankruptcy, then opened up another business that required at minimum, paying rent on a commercial property and paying for the needed equipment inside his business was based on.
Now, the romantic American story (lie) would tell you he did all this with 50 cents in his pocket and simply "worked hard." And while I'm not good at math I can hazard a guess filing bankruptcy does not look good to banks when you want to take out a loan. Ultimately, he needed more than $20 to start this business (fitness/bodybuilding gym). But since he mentioned he brushed elbows with people with fame and/or money I can hazard a guess someone must of floated him a loan. Or he went to loan sharks. Or he hid money from his creditors while going through bankruptcy.
But Bill Gates was not born near mentally challenged, nor I suspect was he reared in a white trailer park with an alcoholic mother that waited tables and a step-father that punched him around.
I'm not socialist nor against billionaires or becoming rich (although if 10 on earth owned 90% of the wealth on earth that might be too much for me--and I don't care how "hard they worked"), but if I ever do become rich or a billionaire it is not because I'm mentally retarded nor because I "morally" deserve it. My intelligence, if greater than another's, does not give me a
moral right to an extraordinary greater portion of the pie than they have. I would simply be fortunate to have more.
And me having more does not mean those with less are morally right to steal from me or kidnap my children and hold them for ransom.
Life is not fair. But it would be more fair to not lie to people by glorifying some conception of "self made." Just about everyone received some needed help to be successful in life if for not other reason than being taught a trade by another or being taught by primary or secondary teachers. It's not like rich people were retarded or feral kids.
