I almost feel sorry for Obama. There's a mass shooting on his very doorstep and it only serves to strengthen the case against gun banning. The guy is just hopeless.

Gun control would not have helped in this case.

Mental health and background checks go together, without one the other is rendered useless. Several states have less than 10 people considered mentally unfit to own a gun, that needs to change.

No, because she supports removing all guns from every American....

Only an ******* would call someone "filth" for wanting to prevent more mass killings.
Actually, if you do just a small amount of research, you will find that Virginia has no such law, nor is it a Federal law. A non-resident CAN purchase a long gun, with a back ground check.
Yes, the shooter DID test fire an AR at a Virginia gun shop, but he did NOT attempt to purchase it.
As usual, there is a lot of misinformation about this incident in the media.
will the NYT ever admit that they were wrong? IMO, it is very doubtful.

Why are you so confused about political values? Is this by design, to confuse the ignorant team players.

It is also worthy of note that the shooter DID, on that day, purchase the Remington 870 shotgun that he used in the shooting spree. It is important to note that he PASSED THE REQUIRED BACKGROUND CHECK!
Now, please tell us how any background check law or "assault weapons ban" would have prevented this tragedy!

He would have found a way to do this with a legally purchased or illegally purchased weapon. The issue here is strenghthening (or overhauling) the existing backround check "problems"
