There is already growing wars around resource and regional control relating to dwindling resources, but of course officially for other reason, WMD's, Gas attacks or whatever next years excuse is.

Infinite growth is now a huge risk to man kind, we have got to find new ways to lower consumption, and capitalism doesn't like lower consumption that's called a recession or depression.
More people means more need.

More need means greater opportunity.

Greater opportunity means greater wealth.

Greater wealth means that we have more resources with which to help fund social programs.

When you place hurdles in front of entrepreneurs, you retard growth.

Take the "green movement" for instance.

Way too many barriers are placed in front of energy companies, hence the need for foreign oil, which leads to conflict.

If we had started taking advantage of our own natural resources 40 years ago when we first started having energy shortages, the Gulf Wars never would have happened, we would be fully energy independent, and the energy companies themselves would be investing in alternative fuels. Not to mention the millions of good paying jobs.

When you tax something, regulate something or restrict something, you throw sand in the gears of the economy.

We're paying for those poor decisions toady.

Comparing 1st world poverty to that of the third world is like an apples to oranges comparison.

Capitalism works when it is regulated. But many in our country do not want regulations but into place in regards to corporations especially and when this is done, the working poor in particular suffer because they become poverty stricken, which is what is happening today.

The standards that many of our people consider living in poverty are considered middle class in other countries. We do have people who live in poverty, the real homeless are among them, but sometimes these are people who refuse to accept any true help to improve their situation.

Individuals compete within their own society, not globally with individuals in other societies. No North American woman would be impressed if a poor man said he'd be considered middle class in other countries.

??? Easiest? Why do some people say upward mobility is easier in many othher countries than it is here?

How does a burger flipper become a millionaire if they don't want to manage burger flippers?
