Of course, they play dumb and say "hey, we passed a bill avoiding the shutdown." But the problem for them is that most people are not stupid and know that they are trying to use the threat of the shutdown to the nation to achieve that which they couldn't in the election booth.
I'll give you some supporters of a shut down:
Harry Reid
Dick Durban ... just add the name of every damn Democrat, and you'll have a list of supporters of a shutdown.

They want it to happen, because they think they can blame it on the Republicans. But, they can prevent it from happening; therefore, if it does, they will be the cause.

Metro Atlanta's rate jumped considerably between may and July. From about 7.6 to 8.9 if I'm not mistaken. All losses due to public sector cuts. Thankfully, it has come down a little since. I think it is 8.6 now or something.

They'd still go bk if they had no medical bills because they cant pay their house, their car loans, credit cards etc..

For gods sakes learn something and stop embarassing yourself with this left wing kook nonsense..
I bet they could afford their bills before they got sick. Did you consider that for any second? Conservatives are so blind, even when so much proof is thrown right in front of their nose!

You try paying your bills if you end up getting an $80,000 bill after developing cancer. I bet it won't be easy.

You can call it garbage all you want. You just don't want to accept the truth.

Oh, I'm sure righties could pay an unexpected, devastating hospital bill of $80,000 with no problem!

Easy peasy.

I say let them shut down the government - Republicans will be blamed no matter what. They will pay for it at the polls. So, let them do it.

The biggest drag on the economy right now is the ACA. Period.

"[T]he voters have spoken?" Yes, they have ... they are making their voices heard loudly and clearly; they do not want ObamaCare! The Democrats are not listening.

The Democrats are only intersted in protecting Obama, saving him the embarrassment of a defeat of his "signature legislation."
Keep telling yourself that. Poll after poll shows that Americans do NOT want the ACA to be repealed. True, Obamacare is only at 40% approval, but most Americans recognize it is better than what we had before.

They may or may not have been able to afford their bills before they got sick.. but even if they could, how does one getting sick, not being able to pay their mortgage and car loans, now equate to medical expenses causing bankrupties?

Wouldnt that $100K mortgage they cant pay, also cause people to file bankruptcy?

Are you now suggesting that when people get sick we pay for their house and cars?

You don't see any obvious differences between a household and government?

By that you mean the "Tea Party types," of course, don't you.

It was largely the "Tea Party Types" that gave the Republicans victory in 2010; not only in the House, but all across this nation, in state races.

John McCain, and his ilk, do not speak for me. Ted Cruz and his supporters do.

John McCain is a Democrat wearing an elephant pin on his lapel. He disgusts me.

We're not talking about Republicans in general trying to kill the economy. It's a very loud, very destructive, very stupid minority that not only has no qualms about driving the country over a cliff just to score a win, they wholeheartedly support the idea and actually think it's a good idea.
You are obviously cluelessly naive. We (real conservatives - and by this I include the "Tea Party Types") are the ones trying to save the economy, and the ideas of liberty, which are being undermined by the poison of Progressivism, which John McCain subscribes to.

Progresivism (Marxist/Socialism) is what is killing the economy, through ObamaCare, and it is ObamaCare which is the vehicle they are using to achieve their goal of "fundamentally transforming the United States of America."

Learn who your enemies are, people! They are not just Muslim terrorists. We have an idiological class called "Progressives" whose goal it is to destroy America as we know it. Their enemy is capitalism, and the free market system. They hate America.

Why should the country be paralyzed every single time the debt limit needs to be raised? It just creates a never ending cycle of gridlock and political bargaining every year. Don't be surprised then when investors no long invest in the USA because politics have become too unstable.
Romney wasn't elected because he had already passed and supported the very policies we didn't want from Obama. Democrat light can't win. So, it is a moot point to us that Obama won re-election. We know why and it wasn't because of the ACA. Romney already had that in MA.
