Considering that resisting the officer justifies more force and even if you complain about it, they still keep their jobs.

in court. you dont fight the cop at the side of the road, they have all the power there. you fight the cop in court with every weapon you can muster. court is where a good lawyer can work, and the advantage is severely diminished. you can also fight police brutality in the legislature, and in city hall. you demand that the government set up review boards that have not only cops on them, but civilians as well. you demand that cops be held to a higher standard in order to wield the power the badge gives them. some cops fall down on the job, but get back up and do it right again. others constantly fail at the job, and those are the ones that we need to get rid of.

A lot depends on where you live. Here in SF there is a powerful Police Commission that oversees the SFPD and vigorously pursues complaints against them. Most recently they made news when they (yet again) forbade SFPD officers to carry tasers, on civil-liberties grounds.

Precisely. However, many of the miscreants who attack police officers arresting them generally don't recognize the legitimacy of anything other than their own personal desires, so such a suggestion falls on deaf ears.

Generalizations do not make for a good discussion. They do not always keep their jobs.

Now if they are arresting you for a valid reason, resisting an officer is a valid reason for them to apply more force.

Do you have something more than a generalized rant?

You could also use the power of the vote such as judges who often side with the officers...

I'm a white guy. I have been, and will continue to be infuriated by some attitudes of police officers when I'm pulled over or asked questions.

But my daddy taught me to be polite, even in those situations. I've never been beaten.

Thats how. How many of these police beatings start with someone being a smartass?

I think police should walk away if there is no just cause, but they are people, and as such they are flawed and have emotions. You don't like someone being an ass to you, and neither do they. Hard to control the actions of other people, better to control yourself.

Good luck in the courts, cops are as proficient at lying as politicians and attorneys.
Who knows how many innocent people have done/ are doing time just so the thugs could close a case.
