Once again, Conservatives think they should have everything they want simply because they want it, regardless of what the rest of the country wants. And they will destroy the country if they are refused. At what point do we finally admit that these so-called "patriots" are actually domestic terrorists attempting to take down the U.S. government? Because they are not even pretending otherwise any more.
The today's GOP operates politically like a two year old.

And we have handed these babies the tools to take down the government.

Great quote from a really good article by Michael Tomasky from The Daily Beast:

"You can only set so many houses on fire before people finally figure out that this isn’t happening by accident and you must be an arsonist."

End Days for the GOP - The Daily Beast

The question is, will we be able to stop the arsonists before they torch the country?

Eh, I don't buy it. Problem is, actions in congress are completely disconnected from any accountability. They've gerrymandered the entire country into oblivion. The GOP has been at this game for a few years now and they did not pay any price in 2012 (at least in the House).

This. If you are hoping for some sort of implosion, then you will be disappointed.

Ah, ok, I see how it works. The GOP version of "growing a pair" is a government shutdown. But Obama's version of "growing a pair" on "no deals on the debt ceiling" is to circumvent the legislative process instead of holding his ground on "no deals."

What a brave man you make him out to be!!!

Again, I wasn't aware that Nancy Pelosi wrote the Senate's version of health care reform?

Is that what you are insinuating?

This business of holding the US and world economies hostage to exact some political victory needs to stop. Ideally, the whole debt ceiling law should be repealed as there really is no option NOT to raise the debt limit. Stopping the recurrent and ever more outlandish ransom demands over the debt ceiling would help all future presidents, not just Obama.

oh, and stop the head smacking. It compromises your ability to think rationally.

Because Medicare was never actually cut. The "savings" from the proposed cuts were orignially used in calculations in the cost of Obamacare, showing them as offsets to the additional costs of Obamacare. Since these "savings" were never realized, the ACA actually costs us $700 billion more than the liar-in-chief claimed when it was passed.

Pretty typical though. Pass a law that requires upwards of $1 trillion a year in new spending, with no funding plan. Then blame the other guys when the bill for your unfunded plan becomes due...and acuse the other side of "defunding" something that was never funded in the first place.
