And the left will cry that it's not a bailout because it's not called a bailout.

It's a grant..free money but not a "bailout".

Pure and simple..it's a bailout.
Just like the FHA is getting their $1.2 billion bailout today.

Glad we seem to have all this extra money laying around to bailout cities and fed agencies.

Sperling said the administration scrounged through the federal budget and found untapped money that "either had not flowed or had not gotten out or not directed to the top priorities for Detroit."

No, I think the Republican governor is going to continue to dance around calling it a bailout because he doesn't want to look like he needed a bailout, but it is, and he did need it.

It's so funny to hear how clueless people are about cities and how they are made up....

Yes the City of Detroit is not doing well but the METRO of Detroit, i.e. all the cities and suburbs that surround Detroit is doing quite well. In fact the Metro Detroit is 12th in population but because of rebounding auto industry it's exports jumped to 4th overall in the country....

So let's spite our face and cut off our nose? People shouldn't comment on things they don't know anything about.

Doing quite well but not well enough to pay up.
The Fed had to bail out the city.

Because of the difference layers of govt. The suburbs and surrounding cities are doing well but they can't fund the City of Detroit. Just letting the city of Detroit to keep spiraling downwards is not a good policy.

Does this mean the school that wants a $2.5 million grant to study the effect of fishnet hosiery on giraffes in the Artic, will be less likely to get the $?

Does this mean that the next state that wants federal funding to build a bridge to nowhere for an island with a population of 50 will be less likely to receive funding?

Does this endanger the next grant asking for funding to study the effect of shrimp running on a treadmill?

The WH is doing the very same thing. Why do you only seek out and blame Republicans ?
The WH "found" this free money in grants.

Did Obama switch parties ?

Shrimp running on a treadmill? Only if it is to get them into a pot of boiling water so I can put them in my mouth and eat them all. Only way I will support funding like that.

Nope..this is money they "found" that wasn't spent. No one is getting their free money cut.
This is extra free money that no one took.
