Is it the thin skins that are crying here? Who cares, its a name of a teem that has been around for years. I think the NA should feel proud that someone used their name as a fierce group of warriors. Who cares if some idiot liberals hate it. They hate everything. Let em cry about it.
I have a great idea to solve this whole problem.
Let's hold a national referendum on whether sports teams should carry names like "Redskins." Only in this referendum, only American Indians get to vote. That is, only people recognized as tribal members by federally recognized Indian tribes get to have a say. If they decide names like "Redskins" are okay, so be it. If not, the name is dumped.
Quite honestly who gives a crap what Native Americans or whineyassed liberals think. If it is such a big deal then the owners will bow to the pressure of their customers, the fans.
Don't under estimate the power of whiny liberals. They are concentrated in areas that shape opinions. Once they get their hooks into something. they'll keep pushing it and pushing it.
This Redskins controversy reappeared out of nowhere last year when Mike Wise, a Washington Post Sports columnist made it his mission in life to get the name change. Every week he wrote an article about how awful the Redskins name is and that Snyder should change the name. Folks cancelled subscriptions behind his crusade and he let up a bit.
Now some of his liberal sport columnist pals have gotten into the act refusing to use Redskins. A few non-sport lib publications stop using it. I'm sure the Washington Post will one day refuse to use the name.

Or ignorant white Archie Bunker types for that matter.

I come from a family and culture of whiney liberals. I underestimate nothing.

You obviously care what other people think if you read internet forums.
They should change their names to the "Red Faces" for their pathetic performance. In the last 20 years they've had 6 season where they finished above 0.500 W/L. 4 season going to the playoffs, never getting past round 1.
Given all their failures, this is a non-issue. I'd be glad if they relocated the 'Skins anywhere else, but it's a fool-proof (literally) money maker for Snyder and Co.
How many other teams have 3 Super Bowl rings. Only a few.
Then it's so RUDE that over 500 Native American organizations have fought to remove the word "redskins" from school teams around the country. I mean, they should be PLEASED that we're using a racial slur to complement their greatness. Filthy ingrates!
I don't like the term, because of the ignorant past it's associated with, but in the end, the people root for their team, and they love their Redskins, because to them it's all about football.

Sounds pretty fair to me...
How about the people who own the team pick the name, it's their team.
Stop being PC. They're called redskins, not American Indians.
