2022 is so far in the future that the Utopian left will envision a perfect world, where it rains gum drops and lollypops.

Never mind that the Utopia 0bama has been promising has not only NOT come true, but we are worse off now then we were before.

The 40 hour work week is a myth. Most full time non exempt employees do not work 40 hours a week.

40 hours has long served as the threshold between straight and over time.

Part time jobs have been the trend going back to the late 60's.

Retail and food services became the largest employer segments in the 80's. Both segments are known for part time employment because employers insist on scheduling flexibility and want to avoid any chance of paying OT. Many of these employers offered sub prime healthcare policies to their employees, high deductibles, low lifetime caps and plenty of exclusions.

ACA has been a convenient scapegoat for some employers.

It is my understanding that young healthy people will be able to buy high deductible catastrophic policies that are ACA compliant, meaning no lifetime caps and no exclusions. The benefits are superior than what previously was available in most open markets. And no doubt about it, they will cost more in some markets.

No you have to rely on CBO estimates. Think about this, Medicare taxes only cover part A. The rest of Medicare comes out of general revenue. Any way you look at Medicare its the gorilla in the room but lets talk about the "welfare" recipient in the corner...If your on Medicare the government is shelling out $400-$500 per month for your coverage. The worst case scenario of the ACA shows it less than that plus there are taxes to fund it not out of general revenue. ACA can easily go into its own death spiral but it still wont be as expensive as Medicare and no one is talking about killing Medicare.
